We had a great Christmas this year. (Really, I can't think of ever having a bad one). But this year was nice. We stayed in California for the second time since moving here. The first time was because we were expecting the arrival of our sweet Jonas around Christmas time and we had family out here. This year, it was just us and that was really nice.
On Christmas Eve we went to church with Greg and Liz and then went out to Denny's with them. Kind of a Wierenga thing ...
| It's a crazy face ... I know. |
| So happy ... too bad it's been too cold for flip flops! |
On Christmas morning, Nate got up and was making us eggs while I got Jonas out of bed. First thing Jonas did? Ran right to the tree and started bringing me presents and saying "open." The presents had been under the tree for about a week before then and he could have cared less, but all of a sudden on Christmas morning, he had to have them. Kids just know these things I guess. So, we started with stockings and moved right into the rest of the pile. Jonas got a lot of great toys and books. So many we ended up getting a new toy box. The nice thing is, he's got 3 buddies to share all these new things with every week.
After spending a lovely morning as a family, we went to Greg and Liz's for Christmas dinner. We spent quite a bit of time with them from the afternoon through the evening. We are very grateful that we have friends like them that we could be each other's family on Christmas.
We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Happy New Year!
